The Hills are alive... - Austria (and Hungary)

So catching the airplane in the morning from Athens I arrived in beautiful Vienna, where I was lucky enough to be able to stay at a friend's place. Now her parents were the most hospitable, sweet people I have met on this trip, and they really helped me navigate Vienna. I spent a good 5 nights there, but I did manage to make a day trip over to Budapest as well. I found Vienna to be such a lovely city with so much culture and history, and I realized along with London, Dublin and Rome that Vienna is a city I could imagine myself living in for a little while. Unfortunately, because I was so enchanted by the city, I didn't get a lot of photos on my phone (but I took plenty on my cameras). So with that disclaimer, enjoy!
Look at how the cloud formations really create depth to the statue. I've taken many photos like this on
my trip.
The backdrop of the stage of the Opera during intermission.  It was quite the sight to see!
The stage and live orchestra for the Sound of Music!  The funny thing was that everything was
in German (even the songs!) but I still manage to follow it all.  It was simply amazing! Well done actors and
musicians!

My stay at home snack; Thin bagels, with brie cheese and green grapes, yum!
I got me some schnitzel!  IT was to die for!  Plus the salad and wine was good too!
The view of the frescos in the palace in Vienna.  Of all the things in the Palace, this was my favourite thing!
The train arriving in Budapest!  It took 3 hours to get there and 3 to get back.
And I did it in one day!
A very handy photo for me.  That is the underground map of Vienna.
Very simple but also very user friendly hahaha
This is the balcony in the Hofburg.  Apparently, this is where Hitler stood back
in the day and claimed that everyone in Vienna was his... quite a chilling moment in
history if you ask me.
Because it was raining the whole day I was in Budapest, I spent a good amount of time here;
the big market full of merchants and delicious food!
One of the many delicious treats I indulged in while here in Vienna.  This one was a coffee
of some sort but I enjoyed it with a lovely cake and live classical music playing!
A really good friend of mine who grew up in Vienna recommended me this place.   Not was it
her favourite place to go to in Vienna but it played live music every Saturday!  And what were the chances
I was there Saturday?
In the palace, they had this live apple strudel show, where the chef would come out
and demonstrate how to properly make one while the audience enjoyed a slice watching.
Another great recommendation made by my friend.  As a fellow chocolate lover, she knew I would love
this hot chocolate here and I sure did!  Along with the cake; it was so rich with yumminess!
