Happy New Years everyone! I hope everyone had a lovely holiday and didn't overload themselves with too much work and food (like I did!). Well now that we are early in the new year, I thought it would be great to post some of my New Years resolutions up here as a visual contract to everyone what I will be trying to accomplish this year. Now I know a lot of people are against resolutions because they can't keep it or they don't want a specific day to initiate change or whatever else the matter be; but I love it. I love the idea of being able to change your lifestyle and having a whole year to try to keep it. Now unfortunately I know I am horrible at keeping resolutions because after about 2 months into the year, I lose motivation or forget. But that's why I love making so many resolutions because one or another tends to stick. And it often doesn't have to be huge lifestyle changes for me, like last year my big resolution/ goal was to finally get an agent for acting and I did....eventually. This year I've got resolutions and goals that I feel I could really accomplish. And without further ado, in no particular order, here they are!
1. Excercise more. I know, I know, everyone has this resolution every year and not a lot of people tend to keep it, so I'm keeping it a little more simple. I really just want to be a little more active, whether that means going for a stroll around the seawall or playing tennis, I just want to do something active once a day.
2. Eat breakfast. I have a horrible habit of waking up at the very last minute, getting dressed and leaving my place to go out and I won't have time to grab something to eat. It's much healthier in the long run and I figured it doesn't have to something grand just a slice of toast or banana (or smoothie) just to get my day started.
3. Keep in touch with friends. Even if it's for a quick coffee or lunch, just something to show I want to maintain our friendship and am genuinely interested in being friends. I find so often, I get so busy working and doing my projects that I lose touch with friends too quickly and this will hopefully help it.
4. Don't succumb to FOMO. In a case you don't know, FOMO is the fear of missing out. As in missing out on parties, going out for drinks or any activity. If I need/want to go home after a long day or I'm just tired, I want to leave without feeling guilty.
5. Cook more. I have a fridge full of food and yet I still get take out and then I end up throwing away the fridge food because it's gone bad. Even a simple meal like grilled cheese and a salad; I've got to stop being so lazy and cook more.
6. And in conjunction to #5; Bake more. I just signed up for a cake decorating class, and I really want to take what I learned and use it at home with more baking. Cookies, cakes, pastries and other things, I don't want to bake just for a specific celebration, I want to bake for no reason more often and blog about them.
7. Expand my horizons. I really want to take more classes and learn more this year. I've already looked into taking trapeze class, sword fighting class, dance class and much more. I know it's a little expensive but it's an experience and that's worth any amount of money.
8. Have more people over. Growing up I never had friends come over to my house, I usually went to their place or we went to a coffee shop but never my home. So now that I have an apartment that I love, I want other people to see it. Either hosting a game night, or movie night just something to allow people to get to know me more.
9. Take more photos. I don't know what happened between high school and now but I've stopped taking photos (from an actual camera) and have relied heavily on iPhone photos from friends. I have a solid Nikon SLR that is just collecting dust and is in need of some fresh air.
10. And lastly, blog more! I'm going to have a set challenge of blogging at least 2 times a month, now I know this seems really small quantity wise, but it's a good start. Plus I'm sure with some motivation I'll end up posting more than 2 a month.
There you go! My goals and resolutions of 2014, and surprisingly most of them are being kept, some are a little more successful than others but that's alright by me. Let me know what some of your resolutions and how your holidays were!
